Protests in Pakistan against high electricity bills, PM holds meet

Pakistan's interim PM Anwaar ul Haq Kakar held an emergency meeting in response to public protests against inflated electricity bills. He directed authorities to develop concrete steps to reduce bills within 48 hours. Last month, the power regulator raised the national average tariff by around Rs 5 per unit, and the government sought to raise it by Rs 3.5 per unit on August 22.
