Armed attacks in Mexico leave 24 dead, including at least 12 police

In the deadliest incident, a security patrol was targeted in Guerrero state, leaving 13 people dead. Another attack in Michoacan left four civilians and a policeman dead. A gunfight between alleged drug dealers in Puebla state resulted in at least six deaths. Mexico has been plagued by drug-related violence, with over 420,000 murders since 2006. Guerrero and Michoacan are particularly violent areas.
