China has started erecting temporary housing units after an earthquake destroyed 14,000 homes

Search teams are using excavators to dig out mudslides that have blocked roads and buildings. The prefab units are being erected in Meipo village, with 260 already set up and 500 expected by Friday. The earthquake, the deadliest in China in nine years, struck in Gansu province, leaving many displaced and homeless.
