Sri Lanka Parliament session adjourned till Monday due to lack of quorum

[Collection]Sri Lanka's Parliament session was adjourned due to lack of quorum while debating the VAT amendment bill. The Opposition members protested the unavailability of the list of items on which VAT was to be imposed. The IMF board will meet on December 12 to approve the release of the second tranche of USD 330 million bailout package. State Minister of Finance stated that the VAT increase would contribute to a 1.2% increase in state revenue and raise the targeted total state revenue to 12.5% of GDP by 2024.
